Out of the Blue by JeanComment: I originally gave this an 8 on my first pass, but I am glad to have re-visited. I think this brilliantly describes both a physical and an artistic negative space. 9 Jak |

herselfby aelithComment: I think the negativge space would work a lot better in this instyance if the head were completely framed, making it the sole subject/positive. As it stands right now, the head has to share the space with some uninteresting and unimportant bg material. 5 Jak |

Bring a Pen and Paperby zadoreComment: I understand that the lack of focus is probably a design element, but it doesn't work for me. Which is a shame because my instinct tells me I would have scored it an 8 had the focus been sharp. 6 Jak. |

Windowsby JakComment: This was the first conception I ever thought of when the Challenge topic was announced. I originally thought of using a tree with a diagonal leaf-line. I then used a suburban house with red tiled roof. But I was happiest with this. The idea was to equally balance positive and negative space; to have them almost reversible in some way. A secondary thought was "window on the sky." Since the challenge began, the ealier picture (//www.dpchallenge.com/image.asp?IMAGE_ID=3254) has been mentioned to me several times. I prefer chariot's picture as a photograph, but I prefer mine as an exemplar of negative space. Many thanks for the kind comments. |

Dreaming Bird of Paradiseby focusComment: I'm failing to see ANY non-positive space here. There appears to eb a positive lack of negative space! 2 Jak |
