A little ray of hopeby JudiComment: Very nice composition. If this is the result of some kind of disaster though, it is kind of hard to see since the bg is so out of focus. Being of more of a documentary nature (if that is in fact your intention?), I think it should have a much larger dof. |

City Pollutionby hugo_smComment: As a stand-alone image it is beautiful. But, since your subject is supposed to be the pollution (which I assume is that haze way in the back hovering over the horizon), I think I might like to see this as a panarama, with most of the sky cropped off. The beautiful colours in the mountains do more than enough to keep it interesting. With those bright and interesting clouds, your message is just buried. All that aside, watch your horizons. Crooked ones are rather disturbing, and I bet you're getting a lot of comments about it, unfortunately. |

Beneath the tideby SouthCoastOr3gonComment: I think the forground is a liiittle too dark. I believe your subject is that tire, but there is not enough attention being drawn to it. Still a nice picture though. |

chimney's gone ma!by mariomundoComment: Nice sharpness and detail in the roof, and I like how deadly horizontal the line a the bottom is. I think the puff of smoke looks too much like a cloud though, to really come across as pollution. If it was more on the darker grey side it would appear more dirty. Also, since the smoke is supposed to be the subject, I think it should be in focus. Overall, the composition is nice though. |

Cowardsby DesperadoComment: Good message -- gotta love positive pollution. As for the composition, I think it would look better with a good portion of the top cropped off, and I'd like to see more of the brick wall on the right. |

Disappointing sight on a hikeby AndyMac24Comment: At least it's nice to see that people are using the garbage can rather than the trail! Probably was knocked over by some wildlife.. those filthy animals! ;-)
About the photo, I think your coposition is well-done, but I'm not sure the black and white treatment adds anything to it. Whatever you used to desaturate it kinda flatteneds everything out. It needs some contrast or channel-mixing or something to give it some depth (I am not that experienced with b&w processing, so I'm not sure really what tools are the best). That said, I think it would have been nice to try it in colour as well. |

Waters Edgeby pillikcamComment: I think this is nicely composed and the details in the can are good. That gull on the left is so cute too! The only problem is that the front bird is overexposed and blown out pretty badly. I think the whole thing could be brought down a notch -- I much prefer a little underexposure if it prevents blown out highlights, especially in an important part of the photo. |
