4 - Brown Heron -- correction, juvenile black crowned night heronby ErikVComment: I think this is a immature black crowned nigh heron as well. I agree with the earlier comment on moving your angle up a bit to eliminate the tree in the background. Perhaps you could have opened your aperture up more as well. With f/2.8 on that lens I bet your could get some sweet bokeh. |

Catbirdby MaryOComment: I love the bokeh here as well. I am a huge fan of bokeh. I like his head-tilt, and I like how the perch is diagonal across the frame. I like these birds, they typically will let me get fairly close :) The image seems to have a greenish tint to me, even on the bird. |

Broad Wingby MelonMusketeerComment: Good capture. I love birds of prey and I hope to be able to get this close to some. I like how his head is turned to show his entire profile. |

Fight!by Delta_6Comment: As others have stated, what jumps out at me is the size of the gull compared to the terns. |

Treeby TammsterComment: I like this. The silhouette really stands out against the blue background. I think the framing is just a little tight. |

Curious Birdby PaulComment: You did a good job recovering the exposure. His head and chest are a little dark, but I think that is because of how the light is falling. The bird is very crisp and I love his head tilt. |

om nom nomby SteefComment: Good job on the exposure. He is very sharp and I like your composition. The light looks a little harsh to me. |

Juvenile Song Sparrowby scottiehamComment: Originally posted by PhotoInterest: How adorable. I like the soft light and tint. Is that from the light that you shot this in or intended tint? It works well! |
The lighting and tint is from the time of day. It was taken probably about 30 minutes before the sun went down and it was just shining right on him. I try to shoot during the morning and evening to take advantage of this light. |
