Wow, thanks for all the wonderfull comments. Lots of questions too. Well, as in the details, it's the ruins of a very old (about 800 yrs funnily enough) castle near where I live. Yes' it is IR and yes, it was shot using a Hoya R72 filter - the cheapest I could find. There's not a lot more to say really.

As for overexposed/blown out in the centre. Yep - unfortunately my camera isn't the best for IR shots. The lens configuration causes a 'hotspot' in the centre of the image. Keeping the lens open as much as possible and as wide as possible keeps it to a minimum, otherwise it shows up as a hard edged over exposed circle. Most times it can be overcome by using the burn tool but obviously that would be against the rules.

A copy that has been touched up can be seen here.

I love this picture, can't be specific as to why, just do. Only negative (and it's really being picky) - I feel there's too much difference in the sky between the left and right sides. Are those storm clouds? maybe having waited a few minutes until the whole sky was a unifrom shade - all clouds would have added even more impact to the shot. - lamedos

Great shot. I love the shapes that nature makes naturally. Black & white really works well. If I was REALLY picky - some of the debris( twigs and bits) kind of detract from the flowing roots, maybe having brushed some of them away first - very subjective. Well done - lamedos

I like this, great lighting. For me there's just a bit too much negative space. Maybe shooting portait and cropping tighter - all very subjective though. Well done - lamedos

Great subject, angle, shadows, etc. Only thing - the subject is a bit to 'loose' (is that a real term?) in the shot for me - maybe just getting in a touch closer or cropping a touch tighter and filling the frame with the subject would have really done it for me - very subjective though. - lamedos

Like this. Purely personal, but maybe slightly tighter cropped and slightly less central? - lamedos

Very good idea, unfortunately I don't go a whole lot on photo's that rely on the title to get the idea across (personal thing). Would it have stood without the title? Hmmm, don't know. Anyhow, the fact that the legs go right off the edge of the frame ruin the composition. Not sure how to have done it but, tighter lighting on the feet and getting rid of the twigs etc would have made a better shot for me - lamedos

Great subject, great framing, good lighting (maybe a touch washed out in the highlights) but the overall photo is let down by whatever you chose to put it on - the folds in the bottom right corner, the wheels partly obscured by folds and worst of all the small bits of white fluff/hairs. Great shot but could have been better - lamedos.

Thanks again for everyone who took the time to comment.

Yes those are fossils - very small (about 1cm Pyratised Ammonites).

lolly_gagger - When I read your comment I was thinking of replying about living in the UK and how am I supposed to have heard of some obscure US band - then I figured out they are actually a UK band - DOH! Having looked them up on the Internet, I have to agree that the images are very similar. You'll just have to take my word for it that I have never heard of the Sundays or seen the Album before.
