Mar 05.jpgby Mr_PantsComment: There is a lot of potential in this one, but I think the low DOF has hurt the impression that could have been created by seeing at least one more row of bubbles. The hint of repetition is there, but really has to be struggled for. With another row, it would almost be subliminal. |

IWIby ShutterPugComment: Feels oof. Perhaps camera shake? Ton of potential to the surface texture and the wick. A backlighting on this would be awesome. |

Day 5: Lupineby EstimatedEyesComment: Am agreeing with PP commentary, but trying to figure out what is causing it. Looks like there was somehow some movement in the tip of the flower that the rest of the stabilized stalk did not readily exhibit. At 1/180, I cannot image not freezing this subject unless the wind was whipping at a 100mph. Perhaps it is a haloing effect between the fore and backgrounds. Rather than USM, try a duplicate layer Highpass with a very low px width and soft light or overlay to complete the sharpen. That may eliminate the halo.
Love the subject and composition. |

Resolveby ShaneBlakeComment: This is my favorite of the series and glad you chose to offer it as a print. It should sell well for you. I have no critique. This one is perfect. |

Day 3 : Revolutionby ShaneBlakeComment: Love the POV on this. Almost looks backlit. DOF is perfect, dropping off the nucleus at just the right spot. |

day-4---Snail-and-Iris-2.jpgby boyd2000Comment: WOOT! Very sweet edit. I might leave just a hint of the background in the image to give it depth and add a hint of light from behind. A bit of burn on the underside of the snail and on the gold to lessen the backlight impact and this one is perfect. Message edited by author 2008-03-05 08:07:03. |

"There is no gray."by johst582Comment: I was one of the three.
This image was far underrated, showing a brilliant use of color and greyscale to exemplify what the challenge REALLY meant to me. Use color to spotlight a black and white subject. Perhaps the reverse of that (using black and white with a colorized main focal point) is what forced so many to hammer this image.
I'm thinking it should be oobie'd. |

Day 4 - Icicleby kteachComment: Well now. A solid 8, potentially a ten dependent on the challenge. Too bad you shot this out of the time frame - DQ 4 U.
Beautiful shot. Love the crystallization detail and the background and the border. Everything is right about this image. |
