40 years....by rhipsterComment: This is nice. Similar lighting, expression and dress. I like that you changed the angle of your modern subject so that he appears to be looking back, or better yet, trying to see what his younger self was seeing, or remembering what he was imagining. The earlier image seems to be looking ahead to the future even though he is not committed toward the right, which is traditional future, so very nicely done. I would like to see the modern subject's shoulder behind the younger one and moved a touch closer with their heads almost touching and as if he were "standing behind" or supporting his yournger self. So many excellent subtle touches that it is truly a work of art. |

like swiftly moving waterby ursulaComment: Great idea and beautiful light. I would like to see the splashes (white water) a bit crisper. The concept is a trusim. The older I get the closer I feel to the rapids. This image has a very impressionist feel. Nice image. |

Some Things Change.... Some Things Don't. by GatorguyComment: Brilliant photograph. Great composition. The subjects' expressions complement each other well. Both subjects are animated and engaged, just like my teenage daughters when they are on the telephone. This has a very Norman Rockwell feel to it. Please take that as a compliment. When I was in college taking art classes in the early 80s everyone was bemoaning him as a lowly illustrator. I, however, believe that he captured the essence of the twentith century like no other artist. People seem to finally be coming around to that way of thinking. Your modern subject's foot moving out of the frame suggesting the future is s nice touch. I lke the simple color choices of red, white and blue - and what could be more American than jeans. Excellent work. |

Life in monoby johnmComment: I like this image. Great framing and the movement of the train past the passengers, their stance make me as your view feel as if life is rushing past these lonely, disconnected people. I wish the subject in the foreground were in focus, but I like the fact that the subjects near the train are blurred. The star-like light is well placed, but is too much. It distracts from what otherwise creates a tense mood of loneliness and being left behind. You certainly have an artist's eye. Brilliant composition, use of line, and movement used effectively. Wow! keep at it. You are a real talent. Thanks for sharing this photo. It shows a creative brain at work behind it. |

Sleeping Angelby ErikaSComment: Brilliant idea and framing. The highly lit lower right corner is distracting for me. The subject's fist on the left is really a nice element with very interesting line and shadow. The cropping is the strongest feature of this piece. The shadow around 3/4 of the outside edge works really well, too. You have some really powerful elements in this photo. |

Tree Huggerby riotspyneComment: Nice crisp image. Great range of values. The fact that your subject is slightly in the shadow and the focus is a little softer complements his hesitant expression. You made a connection with your subject that the viewer can feel. I would crop this closer. The subject's highly lit clearly focused left shoulder distracts from the really powerful elements in this photo. Nice job. |

the danceby mrsamsaComment: Nice composition. I want at least one of the birds to be in focus, crisp and clear, either the one nearest the camera or the bird that is third closest the the right side of your frame. I like how you framed this shot. |

Portraitby SkamalComment: Great job capturing the values of the human face. Your subjects "halo" of hair adds interest complemented nicely by his scruffy beard. I would like to see some sort of connection with the subject. He seems to be disconnected and neutral. It doesn't have to be much, in fact it shouldn't be, just a subtle indication of thought or emotion. I don't like all the white space at the right of the frame. Crop closer and fill the frame with your subject's face. |

Anticipationby brianlhComment: Nice shot. Great line in the post that holds up the basketball hoop, the arch of the ball, and the shooter's arm which completes the arch. The stance of the observer adds just the right interest. This is a fantastic shot. Your title is perfect. Nice job!
