A dragonfly sunbathing in a patch of light alongside a woodland trail. In the dark woods it was like he was in a spotlight; it was an unexpected place for me to find a dragonfly, far from the water, and it felt rather magical to stumble upon him. He stayed put while I took several shots ... like he really wanted someone to photograph him in his spotlight ;-)
Loved how he sparkled and how the long lens and the light combined to make the background disappear. A bit of a dramatic dragonfly shot.
Had the 2X teleconverter on.
PP - tonemapped in qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.096, saturation factor 1.029, detail factor 1), darkened shadows and reduced noise on tonemapped layer and merged with original at 20% transparency, burnt stray bits of tonemapped light in background, cropped, increased saturation overall and again on non-red/orange, resized, sharpened, hand sharpened a little on foreground wing edges, added border. |
