No idea what to call this ;-) Wanted lots of texture for the light to explore so I moved a scratched up old table in front of some panelling in the kitchen near a window, cut some butterfly bush flowers (droopy contrast to the wood) and put them in a pewter mug (didn't want anything too shiny). Not particularly original, I don't think, but I like it better than any other Still Life I've ever done.
Could have used a tad more DOF but the flowers wilted quickly and this was my favorite composition from the session. Tried a closer crop to get rid of the tabletop but didn't like it as much.
PP - tonemapped in qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 0, detail factor 1), reduced noise on tonemapped layer, monochrome on original layer, merged tonemapped layer at 20% transparency, straightened, cropped, cloned out bright annoyances and blown highlights, sharpened tabletop, increased contrast, resized, sharpened, hand sharpened tabletop and mug a little more, added border. |
