 This is my little dog "Flake" ---- completely in her element. She lives for weather for like this.

Oh my goodness. Halfway through the week and my score is still above 7. Very exciting indeed. I think I may have worn out the UPDATE button.

Wow. I am giddy. What a fun week of clicking UPDATE over and over and over again. Thank you to everyone for the really nice comments!!

To answer multiple questions, Flake was a stray in Richmond, VA who landed at Chesterfield Animal Care & Control. She was transferred to the Richmond SPCA (where I work) and I adopted her from there about 6 years ago. She is probably a mix, although it seems clear that there is American Eskimo in her heritage. She excels at tricks and agility, often performs as part of our humane education program, and has appeared in local commercials for the Virginia Lottery and James River Heating & Air. She also appeared on the cover of Bark Magazine in 2008. Yes --- I am a bit of a shameless stage Mom. Thanks to everyone for the many nice comments and private messages. It is absolutely thrilling to win a DPC ribbon, but especially so when it generates so many nice comments about my dog.

This is beautiful! I have an Eskie also and he is the same - LOVES the snow! Thank you for your beautiful photo of a beautiful dog (and breed)! It truly looks like bliss to her.

This beautiful expressive photo should have won in my opinion.
I'm from The Netherlands and often watch the rescue of animals on Animal Planet. Great organisation, glad this lovely Flake got lucky and found you. Keep up the good work.

My first reaction was...
OMG! A polar bear attacking the photographer, but I'm glad he survived and came home to enter this challenge.

i'm shaking my head here .. this is such an incredible photograph .. your title just adds to the emotion and excellence .. i love hearing about dogs that have happy homes especially when they had a bad time before .. congrats on your ribbon .. i bet flake has a few 'real' ones at home ..!!! .. :)
