I wasn't intending on entering anything in this challenge, but this was my favorite shot from this session and I felt it worked well for this sort of treatment. I think this has a bit of an Escher-esque look to it.

I would have preferred to get a slightly different angle on this, more from the center, but the location was awkward, and perspectives were limited.

They key to this challenge will be using the grain to enhance the image, and not just having it to meet the challenge topic. I'll probably learn more from the other entries in this challenge.

Pre-challenge notes:
Some similar staircase shots have done well for others recently, but as much as I like this, I have probably still missed the wow factor that others have a knack for. This will do well if it comes in with a high 5, but is more likely to come in somewhere in the mid-5's.

Anticipated critiques:
-Composition/crop does not work
-Grain does not enhance image

Post-challenge notes:
A rare one for me that landed solidly in the 6's. Almost made my profile page. Shame about that, but still one of my best showings.

I think this is a good example of what I have learned since joining DPC, as it was shot without any challenge in mind. I was killing several hours until I had to pick up my daughter from the airport and recognized this as a good scene and that I had seen others do well with similar. On the last day of submission I realized this would probably work well with a grainy appearance. Probably spent an hour and a half in editing.

Although I didn't vote in this challenge, if I had voted, I would have given it a high mark. I think both the color and the B&W version turned out great.

Nice job with all the lines. They seem to draw the viewer in.

Hmmm, thought I commented on this earlier today! Must have forgotten to hit post!

Love the shot! There's something wonderful about staircases--even though they've been done, I never get tired of seeing an interesting one -- and this one's wonderful! It's so much better in black and white. It is very Escheresque!

I didn't view or vote this challenge so I missed this until now - definitely my kind of shot! Well seen, well photographed, and very well processed to meet this particular challenge.

Looks beautiful in black and white. Love all the textures. Your perspective almost makes this look like some kind of puzzle - interesting!
