Challenge: Brown Ribbon Deja Vu II (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: Challenge entries
Camera: Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Lens: Canon EF 135mm f/2.0L USM
Location: My kitchen
Date: Feb 8, 2009
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 640
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Still Life
Date Uploaded: Feb 8, 2009

Instead of two beer bottles as in the entry that earned a brown ribbon, I attempted a shot with two wine glasses.

Last minute entry. Was on my way to bed and decided to try this. Quick set-up on my kitchen counter. One flash with diffuser on camera pointed up in white ceiling and one flash hand-held directly above the glasses pointed down at the glasses.
The background is a pattern I made in Photoshop for the occasion and printed out on large paper (A3).

Edit:
Converted from RAW in Lightroom but no edit in LR
contrast/brightness in CS4
some cloning to get rid of marks on glasses
crop/resize

I love this abstract sort of work. Love the colour balance with the pattern. I hope you do more of this sort of work. I will be interested to see after the challenge. 10

Cant find the original brown this is meant to based upon.
Striking image. Would be fitting to enlarge to something like 4x 4 feet, frame it and hang it on a wall in my lounge. Lovely use of diffraction to warp the diagonals. Simple but effective composition. Tack sharp. Excellent. 9

I can't look at this too long - gets my vertigo going. But really great lines and contrasting tones and shapes. Too bad I don't know what the original was.
