From the Critique Club:
Great shot. In regards to subject matter, I do agree that the concept is implied rather than depicted. Once has to understand youth being misunderstood in order to get the message. The photo does not clearly convey that outside the context of this challenge.
But let's examine this strictly photographically.
Excellent use of perspective and time exposure. There is balance with the moving bodies on either side of the foreground. There is balance with the three boys in the mid-ground. The only thing I notice is that I think it would be better without the moving body on the left center - that takes away from the main subjects a bit. That is the one thing I would change.
You seem to have done a good job with exposure. Your main subjects are correctly exposed and in focus and you have controlled the lights in the ceiling from being blown out. The horizon is straight - as matched to the ceiling tiles.
I think as a photo this could have scored higher, but I imagine the vagueness of its connection to the challenge topic may have hurt the score a bit. |

Ooooh. . . I LIKE this one!! Great job! I bet the band loved it. Don't you love it when you get a great shot on a week when one fits perfectly with a challenge? I wish is wasn't underrated tho. . .it deserves to have scored and placed much higher! |

Im not really sure what the misunderstanding is here, that aside, I like the composition of this shot, but it feels very stale to me with the white walls, and the models in earth tones, I would either want them to blend in much more or compleatly stand out, I feel like this has potential... definaly worth experimenting with more. |

This is a good image. I would have liked to have seen more students walking around them for added effect. Good job overall though. |

cool image. Only suggestion, bring the three main subjects a little closer to the camera. Still one of the best I've seen.
cheers, |

Been There! Done That! :) Dude! You just brought back some memories! (Shivvvvvvvvvver!) :}
I once heard Gil on the original CSI say, "In high school I was the ghost!" That was me, too! People see through you! You fade into the walls! You float along...just trying not to make waves! Even though I one of two co-valedictorians graduating with a 4.0, I could have wished for less GPA and more real connection.
Like the old saying goes, "'A' students don't always make the greatest success in Life! 'C' students tend to be more well-rounded and functional in a Social World!"
Great leading lines! However, I believe that a tighter crop & placement a little more off-center would have served you better in the score department. :/ |
