This speaks of negative emotions or actions to me, but as an image it doesn't have negative space to me, and that's because the main object, the cig butt, is surrounded by secondary objects - ash particles - which make the background too connected to the foreground.
I appreciate that this is according to my personal definition of negative space and your mileage may vary ;)

| This is a good black and white photo. The dingy graininess to it is perfect for the subject matter. I'm not a fan of long titles, though. A good photo should be able to stand on its own with the title only making suggestions. This is definitely a good photo, and a simple title like maybe "Disgusting" would be sufficient. Titles don't hurt the scores I give, but it may for others. |
