Beautiful, mag, I kinda wondered if it was your picture. I agree with kiwi, it should have done way better.

Superb lighting indeed,

The hoods in her glasses....don't do it for me. If she look the other direction, you may have been better off. Lighting is good though.

Her in that top? Probably not.

Great shot, perfect clarity, and the black and white choice was perfect for this shot, adds a bit of drama,

Good work Kolin! I love the reflection of the softbox in the glasses. Of course your lighting is perfect and I like the model's expression.

Maybe the only thing I would've liked to see would be some "blur mvmt" with the hand to give it a more dynamic feel instead of a static pose.

Very moody shot..just lacking the text to make it an album cover

Absolutely love this one. Great choice of b&w and great lighting. Exceptional model, both in looks, shape and the natural pose she has managed. My favourite of the challenge. 10

She sure looks the part (except for the way she holds that guitar). Very cool.

Super tones as always! Your model has a delightful scowl, too. Composition, light and balance are just fantastic! Glasses detail of reflecting squares is a nice touch. 9

cool portrait. I like the pose and I mostly like the lighting, but the top of the guitar seems blown out and the softbox catchlights in her glasses look like big post-it notes.

Nice lighting with great tones and contrast. Good job! (Glare on glasses may be a tad distracting for some.)

Mag? This is really a great portrait.... I love the lighting, and the choice of having it in black and white, it is all very well done, plus I like the white reflection in the glasses that I'm guessing was purposeful. I also think the crop is excellent and very different. -10-

Very cool photo. One thing that always bothers me in guitar photos is that I can tell if the model actually knows how to play or not. Her hands are OK, but not quite convincing me that she is who you say she is. Gave you an 8 though!

The big square reflection in the glasses is distracting and the pose looks unnatural mild given the clothes and body jewelery she is wearing. You'd expect some rock action.
The composition (apart from the pose) is pretty good and the exposure, B&W toning and lighting is very good.

Hold the guitar neck a little higher display some playing, her wrist would be getting quite tired right there.
01/03/2004 08:38:55 AM
for some reason the reflection in the lens bothers me because they are too bright and am drawn immedietly them and a lot of the other subltle textures/details get are lost

Great lighting and posing of the model. Her expression and the use of negative space make this excellent!

The facial expression seems a little odd, but the technical side of this is excellent.

gorgeous shot! ;)

everything rocks about it--lighting, toning, composition--but one of my fav parts has to be what i assume to be the reflection of the softbox in her glasses--but if you didn't know what it was, you would just think the diamonds added more glamour to her. now, the only thing that is missing is a funky studded bracelet! ;)
you rock. 10.

Like this shot a lot. The reflection from the softbox in her glasses is a bit distracting. If it had been more vertical, it might have looked like a window. I would have been tempted to play with the reflection a bit in Photoshop. Anyway, nicely done.

Very good subject and well-executed. Excellent lighting and composition. Looks like it was taken in a studio. 10
