This picture was taken within one early morning while I was going to school. Along the highway between Eureka and Arcata in Humboldt County (CA) there are many fields that, with the right light, seem to light up as the morning mist and fog seeps in. I felt as though every morning as I saw this that my day was truly beginning and that these light-and-fog shows were great examples of life, or at least the celebrations of it. I titled this photo as "layers of life" to give more symbolism to the distinct layers seen in the picture. From the fog, to the clouds, depth and meaning comes to me. And as the mist drapes over the grass so did the beauty of this scene drape over me as it passed, and I hope it does the same with you.

I understand the concept, but I voted low for this because the composition doesn't do much for me. The very bright sun is too distracting and the horizon isn't level. Considering your title, I would have liked to seen more detail in the "layers", as it is I can't make anything out of the trees, grass and water...if that is what it is.

burnt sky and overexposed...

Blown highlights, low contrast, not sure how this fits the title

Tilted horizons is the kiss of death. Overexposed photo is a close second. Here you've combined both. Good luck.

This is way too over exposed, it looks like there is quite a bit of clipping.

Taken a photo of the sun is not an easy task. This is too harsh in some areas and washed out in other.

Nice looking sky, albeit with a strange rectangle in the top right. I think the sun is perhaps a bit too powerful for the rest of the photo.

Not a whole lot that I like in this image. Maybe if you had caught the sunrise just a bit earlier so the sun wasnt blowing out the center. Lost too much detail. The tilt is odd as well.

Pretty, however, the horizon looks uneven, you should have used a light filter when taking pictures of direct sun...they come out better. Keep up the work though. You can tell you have an eye for beauty.

too bright and washed out. horizon seems off kilter but that might just be the trees.

SHooting sunsets is difficult, or even sunrises..... shooting into the sun is a bad thing in itself. It robs the image of contrast and there is an absence of lighting and detail on the objects in the background... this image goes to prove that.

That said i attempt this sort of shot everyday so good show good show hehe.

The horizon makes me tilt my head. I think this shot might have had more impact if you metered for the sun (although you may have lost some detail in the foreground), and kept the horizon straight.
