Photographer’s Notes
• Confession: this was not actually taken at the zoo
• I set out today to take candid photos of folks in the Seattle Public Library. There were lots of good subjects, but very very few unobtrusive places from which to shoot. In the end, I gave up on the venue. I’ll come back sometime and try again.
• So I wandered through downtown just before lunch time. Not a great day for people watching since it was cold. This is getting frustrating.
• My wanderings eventually took me to the waterfront, an area with lots of tourists and natives alike. A target rich environment, as they say. I finally found the perfect subject, a couple in their mid-thirties with about 20 4&5 year olds. The adults had a rope strung between them, and the kids each had ahold of the rope. A modern day chain gang – sort of. My camera chose this exact moment to run out of battery capacity and by the time I had changed it, the opportunity was gone. ARGH!
• So finally I found this little guy, shot him, and have applied Photoshop taxidermy to preserve his mood of boredom – patient, but bored! I was going to title it "Kilroy Was Here" but didn't think there were enough of us old farts who would get it. See: www.kilroywashere.org/001-Pages/01-0KilroyLegends.html

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.
This was just ok for me. A child at the zoo or anywhere is a target for a candid. One never need step out of their comfort zone to see capture a child doing obscure things. Their emotions are uncontained. In this shot, I see little of interest though. No story, no real emotion, nothing that sparks the viewers mind. To me, its a 3. |

Nice moment, and excellent technical stuff. Like the slightly daft pose, but I fear it might be lost amongst a raft of other child shots. |
