Sharon Lamotte sings at the Olde Hickory Tap Room on Sunday evening...

I feel bad about this entry as one in the MS Walk Bracket tournament. I like the photo quite a bit, but I know these types of images don't do particularly well on DPChallenge. I have been very busy this week and haven't put forth ample time or effort on this challenge. The subjects of chrome and candid are both ones that I should normally do well in, but I just didn't do it this week...

I like everything about it. Its compositionally sound; theres great emotion, there are nice values. scores don't matter. good work.

John, I like the emotion in the singer's face, and the tones you've captured. B&W suit it well too. Unfortunately her arm draws the eye away from her face because it is a large, light mass. Naturally light draws the eye.
I like how she holds her pinky up when holding a mic...like me...tehehe. The only improvement would be to crop most of her arm out. Otherwise very nice! :)

John

I would not feel bad about this photo. It may not have scored highly but it is a great image. I feel the general tonal qualities and softness of the face help carry the emotion of the subject.

I also like this quite a bit...

You have the right idea, but it's just not taken very well.

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry in this challenge.

This is ok. I can see the emotion and like the tones, but the photo is really lacking in focus. I do like that there is more focus on the eyes then anywhere else, as most emotion is coming from them. I also like the way it is cropped. It's just a good candid to me. I gave it a 5.
