I approached this from a literal meaning of the challenge -- compose your photograph so that nothing but your subject is in the frame. So that's what I did.

I took one of my picture frames that has been sitting around my office for the past year. I cut a double mat and inserted it in the picture frame. I wired the frame to one of the keys on the clarinet, set it on a box outside on my balcony, taped everything in place with masking tape, and used black felt as the background and to cover up the keys on the clarinet above and below the picture frame. I took quit a few shots showing more and less of the clarinet, different angles, and so on, after about 80 different photographs, I decided on this one. It is not one of my personal favorites, but it fit the challenge better than some of the other ones.

Interesting subject, and I like the "framed" idea. T he subject doesn't entirely fill the frame.

nice perspective, the reflections on the frame take away from the pic in the frame a bit, but nicely lit otherwise. really like the crop.

I really like the folks that had fun with the literal interpretation of "fill the frame" - an extra point for creativity. This is a really beautiful shot, the lighting works perfectly for b/w and I like the tilted composition a lot - it adds even more visual interest. I get the feeling that the front of the frame is angled a bit away from me, and I'd like it maybe to be angled more towards me - just a tiny thing that hangs in the back of my mind when I look at this. But overall I think you did a beautiful job. 9

Interesting perspective. This would have also done well in the contrast challenge. Good!

Excellent angle, lighting, background, and you got the noise level completely under control. Nice work. 9.
