This *is* an excellent shot. The more I look at it, the more titles I think of that would really work strongly with this as well :) Those clouds in the distance look like a 'storm' rolling in. Since they are also illuminated much more than the capital building, it looks like this 'storm' has much more power than anything else in the photo. It really seems to create a nice theme for certain current political events and news stories. The US, being the powerful nation that it is, is constantly under various pressures and threats. Your 'storm' seems to accent that for me.

| i was very lucky this day - the skies were insane. actually it was terry (clubjuggle) who first noticed this particular vista - the way the skies looked behind the capitol. funny, i still haven't seen his shots from that day (but one, his entry for this challenge). |

| thanks to all who gave me such positive comments! I know this was a quite a good picture, but i'm pretty sure it didnt meet the challenge as strongly to the literal as many above it. thanks for letting me play :) |

In this particular composition I think the flag introduces a visually jarring element out of character with the rest of the photo. I really like the small bit of the second roof and the lighting and detail on the clouds is great.
Since the "standard" flag display is the other way 'round, maybe you should try flopping the photo and see how it looks. |

| The clouds in the background are very dramatic. This shot is very appealing, and patriotic. The only problem I have is that the building is tilted too far to the right in relation to your border. |

Helluva picture. Make prints of it.
I see that from a top-down perspective the dome is circular and from this angle it is domed but nothing drives me to think of round. It is such a good photo, though, that I hesitate to give it such a low score just because it doesn't evoke the idea of round for me. |

| Shame about the building at the bottom left. Great clouds in the background. The placement of the flag looks accidental rather than deliberate, and is not helped by the poor light in the foreground of the building. Nice architectural shot though. 7 |
