Hazy, misty day back in September. Shot from in the forest, looking out to the beach. The blown sky was partially unintentional... but also unavoidable. The coast was very foggy that day, but the fog was thinning and very lit up by sunlight, so this is pretty much what the eye saw too. I wanted that dreamy otherworld effect though, as though the stream was leading off to another world, into the mystic unknown.

The title, btw, is a line from the song "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. Bonus points to the one person who understood the reference.

This is the photo that I originally posted in my portfolio back when I took it and the comments it received. People mentioned the B&W so I thought I'd try it for the Best of contest. I think I might prefer the subtle color version actually, but I like it both ways.

This is a really nice image, has the leading line, nice silhouette of trees, soothing water, like it much more this time round, bumping up a notch..

This is lovely, there is a little much flare from the sky in the background.

This is such a strong B/W image, and also very beautiful for a B/W image... I love the way the background appears to fade away into the distance, just magic..... The light and shade tones are excellent, and so is the textures.

Now you've got the song stuck in my head...

The focus seems a little soft on the sort of partially fallen tree in the middle, which is a little distracting, but for the most part this shot works pretty well. I do find the white line in the border extremely distracting though.

Very pretty, but it would be absolutely beautiful with a better sky.

I really like how the trees fade into the background into the mist. Very nice job.

Doesn't do much for me- a nice photo but colorless and bland.

So exquisite! Testbook composition leading the viewer into the photo with the stream. What magic is uo there? All the trees are bending to look, the wise old log is pointing that way. I love the contrast of the small rocks int he lower right with the misty trees of the upper left. I love the way that the separation between earth and sky disappears at the same point the stream disappears- the image wants me to leave behind the myriad details of daily life (stones) and follow the dreams in the distance. Ok, I will. 10
