Greetings from the CC and welcome to DPC and the challenges. First off let me tell you what works well with your photo. You have definatly caught the viewers attention with the cute cat. The blue eyes are a point that draw the viewer in and want to keep the attention. The title is pretty good as well.
Now on the the critique. The challenge shallow depth of field points to a small field of sharp focus with the background and possibly foreground blurred out to maintain the viewers attention on the focal point. In my opinion this image doesnt have that, the background and the foreground are almost all in focus. The bracelet on the wrist holding the cat is distracting. To help with shallow DOF, you need to focus closer and take the background further away from the subject to create some blur. Overall a pretty good score for your first entry here on DPC. Good luck with future entries. |

DOF is not very apparent in this picture. I think more could've been done with the background to make it more interesting. As it is, it seems very much like a snapshot. |

What a little cutie! Very pretty light, so warm and soft...and the blue in the little creatures eyes just pops...very nice. |

nice little kitty. unfortunately a total photoshop edit i think as one can see the edges was darkened to create the DOF, maybee a little bit of dof on the pinky. sorry |

Cute cat, but it isn't DOF that is highlighting your subject. |

very cute little kitty. not particularly shallow depth of field, though there is some depth. Cropped tight on the kitty would be great for an Ahhhh Cute challenge. |

cute cat..but this image has alot of distracting low res quolities....maybe it was the camera maybe it was the down size for the web...i don't know the res of your camera or how u saved it but its definatly a poor addition the the image...and something u should try to solve...cause it is a really cute cat |

Well, this is an adorable subect and actually a perfectly good photo technically too. Good lighting and colour range - and that little 'fuzz junction' (bit between the nose and mouth) needs lots of rubbing with the tip of a finger! |
