Nice concept on the challenge. Definately shows the snail's home. The texture is really good on the snail and shows lots of detail. DOF is also good on this image with everything being in relatively good focus with the snail being in sharp focus.
Upon looking at this it is very hard to see anything that could be done to improve the photo other than the lighting on the left side seems a little strong and looks to have washed out the snails shell slightly.
It truly is a good image and good luck with future challenges.

For those who felt this didn't meet the challenge - you are correct in the literal sense. Thank you to those who left comments saying so. Here's a better explanation of my reasoning behind the shot:
A house is not a home.
I don't feel I've found a place that I would call home in the emotional sense since I left my parent's house 14 years ago. I tried to illustrate that with a shot of something that is forever moving, carrying it's home on it's back.
I would have loved to have been able to lie flat out in the garden and use my house as a background to appease the literal voters, but the weather wasn't playing ball. |

I LOVE this picture! My only criticism would be that it doesn't really relate to the theme, but you made it relate with the title which I also love, so that was very cool. Great shot though.:) |

"Photograph a place 'you' call home". I think this is a nice photo but somewhat off target for this topic. |

This was very nicely done. Love the slight tonal gradient of the background. 8 |

A beautiful macro shot, could be a tiny bit sharper. Wouldn't call it "the place YOU call home," as the challenge requests, and that loses a point from me. I like the border being white next to the near-white background for contrast. I think that helps the overall feel to not be too bland. |

This is a very nice Macro. It is a little noisy, over sharpened perhaps? Normally I would score this shot at least a 6, but IMO it does not meet this challenge. = 1 |

Little harsh with the light/and a bit more of focus needed....but the subject, title and composition is very well done. |

Photograph the place you call home -- and be creative doing it! You are obviously a talented photographer, but I think you completely missed the challenge. 2

Cracking shot - not sure the title /really/ relates to the pic but it's certainly a very good photo on its own. The way the light's reflecting off the little fella works very well. Good work. |

another good macro shot, but i cant really relate this photo to the given theme this week, which is "home sweet home" unless you are implying that leaves are the home to snails. Some deduction of point there, but overall a nice shot with good focus. |

Is it just me or is it slightly out of focus? It coud just be the 3rd guinness I drank. This could be a winning photograph but theres just something not quite right... I can quite put my finger on it, maybe it's the lighting thats a bit sharp, or the background is too neutral... I'm not sure...
I can tell you with some authority the antialiasing is not working too well, theres a thin red line at the bottom of the shell, and a blue one at the top of the leaf. If you are shooting at a medium resolution, Take it up a notch and drop it down to screen size in photoshop rather thatn sooting at screen size. That should clear up the odd lines. If you are already doing thnat then there;s not much else you can do that wouldn't go against DP rules. |

Hey cool shot, you can be proud of this one! The textures on the shell come through wonderfully. The lighting is a little harsh on some parts of the snail - 9. |

I'm going to have to grade this down a bit for not being about YOUR home, IMHO. This is of course just my own (perhaps over-narrow) interpretation of the challenge, but I have to draw lines somewhere to make judging easier, and I feel people who tried to shoot their own home deserve a better chance at high scores. Nice macro nature shot, though. |
