I think this is very close to being great. In some ways, I like it better than the blue ribboner... I like that the faery is soft. If it wasn't a faery, I would say that it needs to have the aperture trimmed at least a couple of stops. A tripod may have made that possible, but the girls would have moved. It looks like she is shrouded in pixie dust. I like the locale and I like that the faery's lighting does not match the girl's. Faeries have their own lighting anyhow.
It looks like you were on the absolute outer edge of your camera's abilities here, at 1/8th shutter. You still might have stopped down a bit and avoided a few blown highlights. Remember, you can usually bring the brightness up a bit no matter what you are using for post processing.
Aside from that, Thanks for submitting a shot! I love to see the non-dslrs posting clever, well-executed shots...
Also, what the other guys said about the position of the faery and sharpness on the girl in foreground. |

A perspective shot I'm assuming? It looks like ya missed by a smidge. It also looks like your 'fairy' doesn't have a head. Your background, though it fits the theme of your title, actually detracts from the shot as it gives it a cluttered look.

Nice pic but I'd go for a larger DOF. |

Enchanting concept. My eye is drawn to the bright spot on the "fairy" and her head is almost too transparent, but well done. |

'7' - Just a little sharper, and in my opinion a much better picture, good 'illusion' though. Nice set up and nice colors and background. |

Fun concept, but the technical aspects keep this from being much stronger. Your primary subjects are both blurry and the positioning of the fair is off. Things rest in the lowest part of the hand. 4 |

This is great - Nice use of color and a great yet simple illusion. 8 |

This is a very good illusion but I think it could have been carried out better. Firstly, the background (forest) is too bright, imo, and competes with your subjects. Secondly, it's very hard to see the "faery," and she appears oddly positioned over the young woman's wrist. Focus is off and it looks as though you've applied noise reduction a bit too aggresively, as on the large tree on the right, which I also find distracting just from it's presence.
My guess is that you metered off the white dress and increased exposure compensation to get the white dress white, which you nailed, but in the process, you overexposed the rest of the picture. I think this picture has a lot of potential that can be realized with better post processing.
I hope you found this helpful and I didn't mean to sound harsh. If I was, then please accept my apologies. |

good composition. The highligs on the fairy are a little distracting, but the overall effect is a great illusion. |

The "faery" is blurry. The foreground girl is also a little blurry and the pose seems awkward somehow. Great idea! |

Like the idea, but the top of the fairy blends too much, and there is a slight glare behind the girld neck and shoulders. |

Vey cute and the pretty model sells it well! The softness works here, but it is in the wrong places. The leaves should not be so sharp.
Good Luck

I knew I would see one of these photos. The focus seems to be off on the little one. The leaves and things are crisp but somehow the girls are Blurred.

This is a lovely picture. I love the positioning and the background (beautiful!!), and I have always liked this particular photographic illusion. The girl lacks a bit in focus, but overall, Well done! |

i like the fairy land feel to this picture. The background is a little busy though. I losing detail on the person in back. Perhaps a closer shot would have made it a little better. I really like the expression of the face of the gal in white. |

the interaction beween the characters are great. I cant help but wising the fae was standing in the cup of her hand rather than on her wrist.
Also there seems to be a patch of her head that is see-through? Is that just me? |

Very cool concept, I just wish both the girl and the fairy were sharp and the forest was a little blurry. It looks like you focused on the background not the girl. |

The faery has a tree growing out of her head; actually, her head is less distinct than it needs to be. |

This is a really good try at this kind of photo. It is pretty tough. 2 things.
1. The girl in pink should be more centered on the big girls hand, instead of on the wrist.
2. Try using a smaller aperature so you get a bigger DOF so that both subjects are in focus, the girl in pink is pretty out of focus.
Greay try and keep trying your best!!! |
