 I was wandering around the park where I eat lunch a lot, looking for a "family" shot. I was thinking stereotype -- like families having picnics and such. Absent mindedly, I looked up and saw this family and in one split second picked up my camera and got this one candid shot. Then, I watched them for a while and feel certain that they were young grandparents. They are a little older than typical parents of kids that age, and they had that "psycho-in-love" devotion to that little girl. I just love this photo. I hope y'all do too, but. . .who knows. . .I've certainly been wrong before.

Editing: I selected the people, created a separate layer, and put a sepia tone on them. Ran a Neat Image and USM on that layer. Then went to the background and saturated the colors and sharpened. Oh, and there was a little distracting greenery and the shadow of a person in the right side of the arch which I cloned out.

What a bizarre, and yet beautiful, set of tones! I really like this; it's one of my favorites. The pose is very nice, and the background is interesting, but it's the colors that star in this image, for me at least. I love that the bit that pulls you in the most is the little girl - she's adorable!

i think you're going to get a polarized reaction to this image. i don't like it, it's too yellow for me and the family looks like they were superimposed on the background. speaking of the background, the colors on the rocks are overpowering. sorry, i just don't feel it. re: the family, beautiful capture of the child...in fact, i think you should have cropped out everything but the child and the parents' hands.

I like the image, well done. Try this. Crop to expose just the little one and the hands of both adults. Not quite sure on this, but I think it will really look nice. If I was at home I would have tried this to see how it looked prior to me making this statement.

I'm not sure I like the desaturation effect. There's a orangey halo, especially on the girl's arms.

The DOF is amazing!!! Love the muted tones too - and the crop right at the ground so that their feet are walking the border is a very nice touch. Lighting also superb. 10

How cute is that. WOuld have been better if you had caught them swinging her into the air. But still get the family feel this was.

I really like this idea. I am not an expert but something seems odd about the photo. I see a glowing ring around the subjects that just seems odd to me.

What a fun take on the challenge. I like the filtration and the lighting on this alot. It's great to see a "people shot" without having to their faces! It's just as effective, just seeing their posture and movement. Nice natural composition.

The processing (or the shot) doesn't look natural. Almost as if they're standing in front of a cardboard cutout.

I like the candid look of this picture. Very nice job of creating a selective sepia against the natural color of the bricks. Very clean shot! This should score well. 10
