 A candid snapshot of my son playing with a chemical light at a night party. I generally don't enter anything not taken specifically for the challenge, but I thought this effect was really cool.

Processing: Nada. Just cropped and entered.

Post-bomb analysis: Despite the miserable score, I don't regret entering this one. With three kids, darkness to me means it's almost bedtime for them (whew), and they have one last chance to play. In retrospect, I should have gone with a more understandable title like, "Light Becomes Magic." A few commenters wanted to see more of the face, but I felt that the semi-silhouette really lent itself to the darkness theme (apparently not many agreed).

Playing in the dark is a worthy concept for this challenge topic. You have chosen a unique and intersting way to present it to viewers. The general quality of the photograph is good. The main lights are not overexposed and the background black is solid. You've done a good job.

Some viewers may not like that your model's face is not completely visible and will score it lower. They want to see the boy's eyes while he plays.

Very creative use of multiple colours to form the band really makes the childs face look eerie. 7

Nice colors & capture, and a good idea as well. It bothers me slightly that the circle isn't completely round. I wonder if it would have seemed more balanced (assuming that it can't be made more regular) to have had the breaking point of it either at the top or bottom. Well done nonetheless.
