 This is one of those shots that I don't think will score well, but I'm submitting anyway because I think it's funny. I just couldn't get an expression that I was happy with. Cavemen are notoriously difficult models, which is the real reason there are no photos of them. Sigh.

Originally, I was going to shoot a prehistoric computer desktop scene, with the caveman in front of a slate monitor and 'real' mouse, but I got hung up on the whole 'Saurbucks' idea and went with that instead.

I made the logo in Illustrator and glued a print to a paper cup. Then I scrunched up the cup to make it look rough. I could have used a coconut or gourd, but I think this is funnier. The model is Mrs. Scalvert in clown makeup (ain't she purty?), who surprised me by agreeing to endure this humiliation. Whatta' gal!

I shot the photo outside my garage at night, with a rock retaining wall in the background. I used a 100w daylight bulb to light the rocks, and a 420ex flash and diffuser to light the model.

Processing: Crop, Levels, USM, and desaturate the red and yellow channels.

Ya know Shannon, I must admit I missed the Saurbucks Coffee thing. Very, very clever - sorry I didn't get it the first go-round though! :-/

Guess I'm an oddity (I think most will agree) in that I really like this Shannon. I like silly.

yikes! you don't want to be following my trends (my highest finish was followed by my worst finish...). maybe you got hit with the starbucks ubiquity coefficent reversal factor?

funny shot, but my guess is that out of about 300 images, viewers didn't have time for it to completely register.

I think this one is way underrated! Clever idea and one that shows that some effort has been put into the challenge, oh well...I didn't vote in this competition but if I had this would have scored at least 8 for image quality and then some more for making me laugh :)

Well, I loved it. Innovative and in high contrast to the serious tone, even biblical, that seemed to predominate. But I don't check my sense of humor at the voting booth's door. ;-)

I think it's funny! I wonder how many people missed that it's not a real starbucks cup label? When I first looked at it, I didn't see it. Anyway, I think it was a clever idea (but I didn't vote--sorry.)

Very creative idea! The crumpled cup gives it just the right touch. You missed putting makeup between the fingers, otherwise very nice!

One of only two belly laughs that I've gotten while voting this challenge. A true genius thought of this idea. The setup is wonderful, right down to the detail on the cup's emblem. Beautiful!

I can't stop laughing !!! This is great, hilarious. Awesome idea! I was so amused by the overall concept, it took me a moment to notice the actual word and picture on the cup logo, then had to laugh even some more. I love it. Oh, and the composition lighting and focus are all pretty good too, hehehe. Great job, thank-you, brought some much needed bemusement to my day. :-)

Not sure how this correlates with "In the Beginning..." And I'm also not sure that this is a man... Otherwise, it's a really cool photo - the light & clarity is very good!
