I took this at the world's largest birdpark in Walsrode. Actually I took MANY pics there but this was the best one of them all.

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Kiwi...

This is a good documentary style photo. I think this is is a perfect example of what I would expect to see coupled with an article about this bird in a bird magazine or encyclopedia.

The unique color on this bird makes the photo attractive. The curves and colors definitely work well together in this composition. The shallow depth of field also nicely separates the subject from the background.

Technically, this photo has a few issues that I can't really explain. There is some artifacting along the top of the photo in the blurred background and there appears to be a 'ghost' around the beak... it could be from shooting through glass or something similar... not sure :)

Keep up the good work :)

Very good negative space in this composition (allthough most dPCers much prefer comfortable thight crops). Thanks for your comments on my pelicans.

Gorgeous! Perfect use of shallow depth of field. I wonder if you could have sharpened his eye a bit?

I like the contrast and the use of depth of field in this photo. I probably would have tried to get more of the bird in the photo either by taking the picture vertically or by not cropping as much,
