Just wanted to say that I love the picture. |

Wow. Am I shocked at the amount of people that said they didn't think this met the challenge. The tree is alone, sad looking, droopy, and looking a bit unloved. You can't say that a haggard person is despair, but then say that a haggard tree isn't. I love the shot, and am adding it to my favorites. Congrats.

I really like this shot. It looks like an illustration out of a fantasy book. Awesome. I don\'t find much despair in it so I was going to give you a 7, but I think I\'ll still give you an 8. Love the saturation of green. |

I like how the vines lead your eye through the photo. |

Nice picture. I don't despair in looking at it, though, or think that much of anything here is. Colors are good, though.
Back later: I have to say that, regardless of the symbolism you intended in this picture, as an uninformed viewer of that picture I would have to have had at least some clue as to your intentions. Your picture is well-composed and has a fantasy feel to it, which I like, but I can't relate it to the challenge without your explanation. In the context of this contest, I think the photograph needs to speak for itself (or its photographer, as the case may be) and yours, in my opinion, doesn't do that. |

I absolutely love this, and can't wait to add it to my favorites. That green is so intense and vivid against the dark of the trees, it's fantastic. It honestly does not really convey a sense of despair to me, but it's awesome in it's own right. |

A peaceful sight and a good landscape. Although the photo is good, I feel the opposite of despair. |

Wow that's a great picture. But it doesn't have much to do with despair. Should have saved it for a different challenge. It's very good however. |

Great photo. I realy like the figgyness in the background, and the tangled feeling. Not very 'Desperate' though. |

This screams "rebirth" to me, not despair. |

Wow on the photograph itself. Does this communicate despair? Not to myself. Great picture tho. |

GREAT shot! I love the composition and colours. Did you post process it much? Desaturation of all but green perhaps? I don't find it really fits the topic, though. Too bad. It would have been a 10. |

Wow.. cool image! But no despair :( Based on your message to me, I now see the intent - but when all I have to go on is the image presented, it's hard to make that conceptual leap. Might have been better titled "Roots of despair" with a visual hint or two to lead the viewer to your artistic intent. Your score stands as is.. technically very good, but doesn't convey despair in a clear manner - 5. |

Seems too alive to convey dispair. |

This is a fantastic image. It's rather unfortunate I don't see the despair in this photo... To me, it doesn't meet with the challenge. Isn't green the color of hope? Great framing. Excellent exposure. Really nice composition. These trees are so cool to look at! Sorry though... because of not meeting witht he challenge, I'm lowering its score to 6/10 |

I love the photo, but.... Green is actually a color of life, not despair, generally that is. How is this picture supposed to convey "Despair" to me? Feel free to send any explanations, I've been known to change my vote. Some times I just don't understand. |

This is an amazing find. I really love the color and the different greens in the shot. there are a few slightly different greens. not a major different shade, but enough to make it varient. The angle and framing/cropping is excelent. Looks despair-ish to me. Kind of peaceful also. Focus and clarity are wonderful. This is an excelent shot! I really like it. Something I could hand on the wall. Congrats and good luck in the challenge. |
