Composition (content)
Great subject placement, the sign clearly stands out in the foreground, with a nice representation of its surroundings in the background. The foreground and background relate very well.
The lighting of the sign and the surrounding area is very good. The motion blur of the passing cars has its ups and downs. The red/orange rear lights (of a truck?) are nice, they seem to add something perspective wise. But the big yellow/white streek of frontal lights that runs from the right to the left is a bit too much, it is blown out and spoils the lighting balance.
You need an assistent! :) On a serious note, someone helping here could be very useful. Either to tell you if the road is clear enough for a 10s exposure or to stop the traffic.
The use of F8 aperture has created the nice twinkling around the lights, cool touch.
I also like the angle at which you shot the sign.
Camera Work (Technical)
Good exposure, focus and sharpness.
It wouldn't have been a big problem to widen the aperture I think. Using F5.6 to go to a 5s shutter would still have had a lot of depth as a result at the same exposure value, but the influence of the cars might have been less. F4 2.5s/F2.8 1.3s/F2 .65s to blur the background would have been a possibility as well.
Digital Processing (technical)
Good natural color, good sharpness.
There is some rome left for saving the picture at a higher quality 130 of the 150kb max filesize is used.
Good balanced frame.
My opinion
Very nice. |

Nice setup. I like the placement of the sign, the star burst lights, and even the stop sign in the background. I would prefer this shot without the motion blur of the pasing cars. Jacko. |

Cute and Funny. Never saw a Duck Crossing Before. Nice and Crisp colors, you even got good colors on the red stop sign, and the stars on the lights are good too. |

I never realized that duck crossing signs are as popular as they are, considering the numerous ones posted this week (I have one near me, too, and had thought about shooting it!). This is my favorite of this crop, though. Nice contrast with the darkness. |

I like the taillights going through the image. The main negative from my point of view (and it's not a big one) is the reflection occuring under the word "XING". Other than that it's quite good - composition is good with the sign well placed. The black and white border also works well, effectively providing a border to both the white snow and the black sky. Good work. |

Looks to me like 4 dumb ducks and 1 smart one. Who ever did this sign had a sense of humor. I sure am glad they let it get through. Looks like a very busy area. Really nice photo. Good night shot. Nice job for a 7. |

the title hurts the photo, but that obviously isn't the biggest part of the photo. the sign looks nice. there is the distracting shadow on the bottom of the words, probably from the flash? anyway the photo is very clear and sharp. the motion isn't the best, but it is good enough |

I love the sign you chose :) I've seen the duck crossing sign a few times, but never with the extra chick flying up like that, it's hilarious. One thing is just really distracting! that pink line going through the stop sign. Did you use the slow shutter setting? (I'm new at photography, so I don't know all the technical terms yet)... very inventive use! I give you a 9! -Annida |
