The only thing I dont like about this shot is that it beat mine by one of dem there (pistils?)
In a jealous rage Ill say it doesnt fit the challenge properly and the border is too much.
The reality is you used a closeup to convey all alone (there were debates on that issue) which is pretty clever and the photo is an interesting take on the subject.

As much as I think my photo shouldve won (no bias) I couldnt accept first place with this shot up against mine. Not only is this a brilliant photo is fits the challenge perfectly. To me that counts for a lot. Taking a good photo is a lot easier than taking a great photo that is supposed to convey a message (in this case "All Alone"), and to have that message clearly shown without having to use a title or description to explain it.
Long story short you shouldve won.......then me second.
Keep it up mate!

Woo Hoo. 5th Place. I'm Back. When I saw the 7's roll in I was trying not to get my hopes up on a ribbon, glad I didnt.
To all who gave such good comments I thank you, it made entering challenges again worthwhile.
When I saw this I knew it would make an awesome shot.
My girlfriend really likes this shot so I told her if makes top 10 ill do an A2 blockmount and hang it up in the lounge.
This made my day.

Very nice indeed. The sun catches it perfectly. The isolation is very well done here with the DOF eliminating the surroundings which would have ruined the "All Alone" feeling. The composition is good too. To me it doesnt generate a feeling of loneliness as such but it is a great shot.
Ill say again what an excellent use of DOF. Id like to know how far u were from this subject.

I quite like this and tried a similar thing myself. Ill probably see a few more like this too. To me the lack of colour gives a forlorn, alone feeling in a way. I may like it more if it was a little more off center but to me you wont lose points for it.
