In or Out?

In or Out?

Comment:
This is a nicely composed shot, and rather attractive, but I'm not sure what's inside, what's outside, or where the looking is. As far as I can tell, it's either inside or outside, looking down a hall-like space that deosn't appear to transition from one to the other.

Beware the Crocodile's smile.

A very cool concept; portions of the picture (upper roof, and the background outside the mouth) are very dark, however. And I'm sorry, but I can't tell what that is supposed to be in front of the crocodile....

What a leaf might see looking out...
by silverleaf

Comment:
I'm not so sure the leaf would see it, though perhaps. The bug seems more likely, once it has made that handy window. Nice framing on the daisies; in spite of that, I find the picture rather bland, and the lighting too harsh on the white portion of the flowers. (Less leaf and more flower might have helped in many ways, but it would have detracted from the needful display of the hole in the leaf, so....)
A Distorted View

A Distorted View

Comment:
Amusing - what is the distortion being caused by / done with? The photo is very grainy, however, into the pink and even lime green pixels - very distracting. Was the lighting very dim, or a high ISO being used?

Cute scene, and setup. It's rather blurry, however - you may want to check what resolutions your camera is capable of, the focus (and if it's autofocus, whether a different angle causes it to do better), and/or a bit of photoshop or the appropriate similar program to sharpen things up.

"I'll have a camera, chilled." This is a cute idea, though I think you've been betrayed by your lighting - note how the milk carton glares, the door is properly lit, and the woman leaning in is somewhat shadowed. You've kept a nice detail on her, for all of that, but there's a bit of graininess and the definite shadowing that makes the near side of the door seem more the subject than anything else.

On the one hand, between the titleand the look of the piece, I don\'t really feel like this is \"inside looking out\" but rather \"inside looking inside\", with the \"out\" merely a backdrop. On the other hand, it\'s a very pretty backdrop and the scene is well-composed, the light sufficient to show most details inside in spite of the outside\'s glare.

Oh, dear. A clever idea - though it loses more than a bit for me, because we see both eyeholes at once. Someone wearing the mask wouldn't; it has to be held a distance out before that happens. I'm not sure how to counter for that and still make it clear the mask is there, though perhaps the ring framing one eye would have been sufficient. Or careful placement of a window behind something, so that the mask was seen reflected in it; getting that to work without capturing the camera would have been tricky, however.

At least on my monitor, the dark of the knives sort of run together, indistinct from each other; other than that, the crisp focus on the scene itself (rather than the mask) is nice.

At first glance, this seems to be more outside looking in, but perhaps the bee (hornet?) is simply looking out the side. I'm not sure I like the top-down approach in this case, as it emphasizes the "outside" part rather than inside. On the other hand, it does avoid any potential distractions that may have been nearby.

A cute idea. The focus is a little too good - the threads of the fabric are very visible. Then, too, I doubt the skin is lit from within; getting the light on the same side of the fabric as the fingers might have made this more believable.
