Fanfareby kavamamaComment: I'm afraid this one didn't grab me topically as much as some of the other flower pictures -- the colours are in fact complementary but the lack of vividness in them doesn't make it quite as obvious. Also, for some reason, the flower itself looks actually rather scary. |

Color Wheelby greenem2Comment: Neat. Color/complementary colour/neutral, repeat. Very topical. Kinda strange to look at, though -- I'm wondering where it's from. |

three pairsby tomzinhoComment: Hmm. On the one hand, yes, you do have some complementary colours there. On the other hand, the softness of some of the colours and the fact that non-complementary colours are set next to each other between the pairings detracts from the focus on the topic. Also, honestly, photographs of money don't do much for me. But it was an interesting idea. |

Blue Orange Irisby andhawComment: Really a pity how many people chose a flower to demonstrate this, as it slightly takes away from this. I like this nice, water-flecked shot. The color contrast of the complementary colours is strong, and it's a gorgeous-looking flower. The flaw is that the blurred background keeps drawing my eye despite the good center placement of the rest -- maybe a slightly closer crop would have been better. |

submerged blue and orangeby deceptiveComment: Shots like this always amaze me, which, er, is partly because I'm very ignorant (not stupid, just ignorant). But still, nice, though I think I would have gone with a more yellow second colour to really get the contrast of the complementary colours -- this has a bit too much red in. |

Spring Feverby severinComment: Very prettily staged, particularly the crisp focus on the leaf with the blurred background. Good colour contrast. |

Red & Green Peppersby WILDBLUEComment: Mmm. Salad.
Darn you! Now I want salad. Good photograph, good use of color and placement and background. Did you consider slicing them? Probably best you didn't, I would have been even mroe hungry. |

Open Wide and say AHHHHby BAMartinComment: Yup, flowers have definitely been a trend I didn't notice -- I didn't really skim the thumbs. Not your fault you're the third one I've come across. It meets the topic, and actually the closeup focus and the predonderance of one of the colours over the other is a very nice touch that does not duplicate the earlier efforts. And yes, it does rather look like an apropos title. I also note the hovering-butterfly effect above the yellow bits, which definitely makes the picture more interesting to me. If it was intentional, good job. (If not, good job anyhow!) |

Come Togetherby friscaComment: This is interesting, and the impulse to place it against a black background a good one, but why so off-center? I realize dead-center focal points are considered boring by a lot of people, but when the only part of the image with colour is your focal point, centering seems more natural. This feels awkward to me.
The actual topical element is lovely, though. I'd hate to have wash all that off! |

Dogwoodby marinajoeComment: Hmm, I begin to suspect this will be a common theme. This is nice, however; it meets the criterion and the overlap of leaf and peta, particularly at the top left where the deeper colours meet, captures the essence of the topic nicely. It is also framed well, with the focal points surrounding the center. |
