Simple, suberb composition and use of color. One of my gentle favorites for this challenge. |

Love how the use of DOF creates a background for the leaves! |

Ooooooooooooooooh !! This is a beautiful shot. Very subtile and with style. Challenge met (although it could have been a tad more 'red'). Nice composition and good job on exposure. Welldone!

beautiful red. Crop off the bottow green just below the last leaf tip, I don't think its adding anything to your composition. Just lovely DOF too. very rich. |

i like your use of shallow dof, but the leaves are too dark...5 |

Very prettily staged, particularly the crisp focus on the leaf with the blurred background. Good colour contrast. |

I like this alot. my only suggestion would be just a bit more light on the leaves. I do like the composition and background choice. |

A touch more light on the leaves would have made this shot really *pop* I think |

great shot. Good background, nice foreground interest. just wish you'd shot this at a different time of day - perhaps with sunlight backlighting the leaf - then this could have really come to life. |

Very dark. I wish the red leaves were much brighter. 5. |

very nice work with the shallow depth of field... I think the only real improvement that this image could use would be more light on the leaves... the dark leaves don't really suppor the theme of complementary colors as well as they could. Complementary colors usually offer a very strong contrast... = 5 |

Some may feel the darkness is a weakness to this shot, I however like the feel it brings. The dark red leaves with the hint of sun on them show the coming of cooler weather. I do feel that a more narrow crop would make for a stronger composition. I think that the added green is taking the eye away from the leaf. 8 -danny |

Interesting - real delicacy to that leaf, and the composition is quite daring, and quite effective. I have to lighten my screen to see the real detail though, so perhaps a touch more light on it would have been useful. |
