Too small; it's hard to see your bug (bee?).

I don't really care for the soft focus in this. Also, completely white background make it look fairly staged, which takes away the "in the garden" feel for me.

While it's true that a lot of people barbecue in their yard/garden, this area they're in looks wild enough to not convey that strongly to me. Also, I'm not sure what you did with the color in this but I don't care for it and it looks overly processed.

Seems to focus more on the flower than the bee (?), which is out of focus. And why so small?

In the garden - looking at the cathedral

While I can see that you are in a garden of sorts -- the flowers and other landscaping gives that solidity -- I'm not sure this is the best choice for portraying that feeling. The cathedral, as the main focus, dominates the picture so much that you have to search for the gardeny bits, so it doesn't really give a solid connection to the topic.

The picture feels unbalanced to me -- probably because there's a lot of white space at the right that filled with other things at the left. There's something a little odd about the angle, too

I think if you'd taken a solid eye-level shot of this, or even a slightly below eye-level, it might have worked better for me. Something where your flowers and such are still not the main focus but where they become a larger part of the picture.

This is at least the second "spider with a dark background" picture I've seen, and I've been confused both times as to why someone would feel this conveyed 'in the garden'. If the background were visibly gardeny, sure. But this could be anywhere.

It's a good shot; the lighting on the spider is good and it's a very well focussed close-up. It just doesn't do me topically.

While this is definitely an interesting picture of a spider, it doesn't really feel "in the garden"y to me. I see some background detail that looks like it may be a fence or something similar, but it's hard to tell, as dark as it is.

This is really not all that gardeny to me. I realize it's a cultivated area, but I have distinct categories in my head for 'gardening' and 'landscaping' and this seems more the latter.

It's an interesting perspective to take this at. I like the way the eye runs along the stone at the side up towards the trees.

Hmm. I kinda like your idea, but I'm not sure whether or not it succeeded. A couple reasons. First, the topical angle -- not only is the thing we're directly looking towards flowers, but we're obviously outside, not in, the garden. I haven't been quite as strict about the latter as I could have been but does make the topical connection looser for me. Second... I think reversing the focus would've made more sense -- the sharp focus on the thing we're supposed to be looking toward, not the barrier. On the other hand, the focus on the barrier may be part of your statement. If so, I have to say I would've liked to have seen more of the barrier -- a shot from further away, basically.

Garden fruits

Garden fruits

Comment:
Close-up of fruit-cup doesn't really say In the Garden to me. It says "on the table".

This seems a bit bland overall. A fruit salad with a big variety of fruit might have been more attractive to me. Or something like a creme tart. Or even a bowl that was of a sharply different colour.
