Who needs chemicals to kill pesky insects when you have one of these in residence above your tomato plants? Many thanks to my fiance, who, despite his distaste for spiders, managed to hold the flashlight still. Shown slightly larger than actual size of about 1.5 inches in diameter. *grin*

with that black background, it may not me think at all to a garden... so I doubt it meets the challenge

This is at least the second "spider with a dark background" picture I've seen, and I've been confused both times as to why someone would feel this conveyed 'in the garden'. If the background were visibly gardeny, sure. But this could be anywhere.

It's a good shot; the lighting on the spider is good and it's a very well focussed close-up. It just doesn't do me topically.

The harsh lighting is very effective here, and enhances the texture of your subject. Also very nice texture captured in the silk strand he's hanging from. Colour has been captured nicely given the harsh lighting. Good crop. 9
