First there is and then there is. The illusion here is of stop action photography - yet it's a still life. Riveting.

I think I would really prefer this in color to emphasize the prey more so than the eyes.

This is good. Really good. Clever. Like two brooches viewed through goggles. Same place and same time yet distinctively different.

You are correct, that is exactly the illusion I (or perhaps, better, the chameleon) was trying to create, a Southwestern Rock Chameleon photo that "appears" to be a Desert Bighorn Sheep, resting upside down.

That's why these little critters are so elusive and hard to photograph - they can look like just about anything. I've actually got 12 or 13 of them and my portfolio and you'd never know it. ;)

I'm one of your 8s. I loved this, your title made me think of it as "movie poster" art. Not exactly what you intended, but I still think you should have scoredd higher. Guess it's the bias against abstracts. Even though thtat shouldn't be the case in a "Pattern" challenge.

I did see the lines more as negative space elelmets - to me the pattern (not a recurring symetrical one, obviously) was the horizontal lines of the reflection. I kept trying to see faces (who's the star of this movie? lol).

Thank you for answering the question. There are several stars depending on your perspective. The first is George Washington at the upper left and the last is ET the extraterrestrial on the lower right. James Bond and Michael Jordan are interspersed as well.

Now, really drilling deep into the abyss, does anyone check back to see if, after they make a comment, the person who took the photograph responds in kind? Particularly if its several days later?

;)

In the first 1/2 second - I was poised to hit the 5 button and move on (as is my wont).

Then the background drew me in. The hat, which my eye is naturally drawn to, actually detracts from the image for me. Too much haberdashery. The rest of the image is stronger.

I've been to this diner at 3 AM on a Sunday morning after a night out and it looks exactly like this. I thought it was just me.

Great capture.
