The Valley of Akalyby CutterComment: What a stunning landscape that blends incredible beauty and utter bleakness seamlessly. Incredible dof and sharpness and wonderful colours. The sun/shadow play really make this shot in terms of the challenge. 10 from me |

The walk home by inshaalaComment: Oh my goodness, this is an outrageously good image for the challenge. Fantastic composition and great clarity given the weather conditions. This is an image that you dont just look at...you feel!
I love the B&W conversion
Its a ten from me and adding to favourites.
Simply perfect. Thank you |

No Country for Cold Menby hahn23Comment: I know that titles should not really count for anything but I do have to say that yours made me laugh out loud.
Incredible landscape. This almost suffers in terms of the challenge in that you have created an image of such overwhelming beauty that it takes away from what is indeed a harsh environment
The type of shot that leaves me both awestruck and envious
Brilliant |

Harsh Cityby Aurel78Comment: Really outstanding example of an urban nightmare. This picture is made by the incredible composition that you applied. String stark leading lines and a real sense of being overpowered by concrete. Vert impressive the way you have kept the colours bright yet still made them feel oppressive. One of my favourites in the challenge - 9 |

The Anza-Borrego Badlandsby RentrenzComment: Supern shot of hectares of desolations which is wonderfully set off by the bush in the foreground. Great clarity and colours |

global warmingby alexgarciaComment: Really like the minimalism on this shot together with the dof you have used. Nice application of rule of thirds as well.
I am not sure that this picture is what it first may appear to be (when I opened it I thought parched earth, but the more I look at it the more it seems to be almost like skinned plaster which has begun to peel). Regardless of what it is physically of one thing I am sure, its a very good image |

Peakedby ImagineerComment: Well I have to say I cant believe that this shot 'only' came 40th (which is good but not as good as it should have been) and as for scoring sub 6, well words fail me
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing the image, also I hope it is OK but I have mention it in the posthumous ribbons of the week thread

Spot, The Hermit Crabby GeneralEComment: Sorry this shot was so underrate by the voters in the challenge (I was one of your two '8's)
Hope it is OK but I have mention it in the posthumous ribbons of the week thread

epiphenomenonby seeComment: What a brilliant title for this image...(I have to confess i needed to look it up just to double check that it meant what I thought it did
Very very good take on the challenge. Ireally like the sharpness that you achieved (especially in terms of the shale at the edge of the drop off) Not quite sure that the duotone works well here but congratulations on producing a photo that really made me stop and think |

Prostitutionby raishComment: Very interesting take on the challenge. Maybe lacks true urban bleakness or the hopelessness of prostitution but a very good concept. Not to sure whether the red inner border works and the light in the bottom right hand corner is a bit distracting
Good effort |
