Winter Wonderlandby joshuamliComment: Wow. Great capture. The only thing that distracts is the branches in the front. I know there probably isn't much you could have done about that, so I won't let it affect my scoring. 8 |

Behind the Glassby sagestudioComment: Hmm. This looks familiar. Can't think of from where tho. Too much black space, it draws attention away from the window. |

contrastby EmerauldeComment: Cool. Egg, cup, saucer. Makes it look like a ball. Great abstract. |

Holiday Trimmingsby OneSweetSinComment: Interesting. The fact that you took this in the snow is a neat idea. However, you need just a bit more lighting on the snow to bring that fact out. Possibly a flashlight lying on top of the snow facing the basket? I like the colours on the trimmings, very vidid. I wish colour of the basket was a bit more so. The composition leaves some to be desired. It feels static and boxed in. |

Golden Calmby timj351Comment: Nice shot Tim. I love the tones and the quality of the silhouttes. The boat is just a bit too close to being centered for me tho. |

Stranger in a Strange Landby mbardeenComment: Thanks for the comments.
This was taken on a misty/foggy night with a fairly long exposure. That is how I got the tones the way they are. I am unhappy with the light at the bottom of the tree as well. I took the time to combine the two shots I took into one I really liked. You can see the results here:

The Dearm Doctor-(Arthur B. Reeve)by andlbComment: Greets from the Critique Club:
Hi Andrej,
This is a decent portrait shot, like your previous submital. However it was hurt by the harsh lighting of the flash. I do like the humanity and the feeling present in this gentleman's face, but the rest of the photo does not really work for me. For one, I don't see the relationship to the title. He doesn't strike me as the doctor type (though I could be wrong). I think this is where you've lost most of the points with the voters, as the comments during the challenge indicate.
Anyway, as I said before, I'm not happy with the lighting, and I'm not happy with the composition. Combined they don't give a feeling of dynamism that should be present in a good photograph (i.e. The photo looks more like a snapshot then a art photograph)
I hope this helps and you have better luck with your next submission!

The Shinning(Here's Johnny)by spacebrushComment: Greets from the Critique Club
Hi Justin,
This is a clever idea and the photograph is well executed. I think the crop may be a bit harsh, cutting off his chin and the top of his head doesn't work well. Maybe just a bit more space in either direction would have helped? Other than that I can't offer much criticism. The picture seemed to score fairly well with the voters.
I will say that the picture size is rather small, both in physical size and memory usage. DPC allows a picture size of 640x640 pixels and memory size of up to 150k. I highly encourage you to use all of that, as that really shows your photograph in its best light.
