The colors are wonderful here, the lighting is good but your focus is just slightly off.
As for meeting the challenge you do but when I first saw this I didn't understand what was going on til I read your comment. Since this isn't something that is available during challenges I think a lot of voters just didn't get it.
One thing you need to watch is the angle you take a photo at. As it is you have a stick sticking out of his head.

Beautiful and simple. Nicely fits the challenge.
Your lighting works here.
I do question two things in your composition first the stem. Would the photo have stood on its own without it and second question is why did you use a textured background it is distracting. I would have rather seen a smooth background.
Overall you have a nice macro going here and hope to see more from you.

fresh rose on yonder thornby tcmartinComment: Greetings from the Critque Club
Beautiful, delicate and yes well fitting the light on white challenge.
Your lighting seems very good you don't have any areas of over exposure the only lighting issue I see is a little more shadowing on the side of the rose than I like to see.
Overall its beautiful and simple and there isn't anything really to change...even the shadow I mentioned is nitpicking.

Just a puff.....and they will be goneby BMacDComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Let me start off by saying you met the challenge very nicely. This is definately something soft and delicate.
You have a nice macro here but you have some lighting issues. Some of the white is blown out from over exposure.
As for your composition its good but I think you would have a stronger presentation by taking it from a different angle. The brown of the plant in the foreground takes from it.
Overall I think you have a nice photo its just the minor flaw with the lighting that truly hurt you.

WOW what a first entry and what an outstanding concept you used here the fertilized egg and the light.
About the only thing I see that could have been done differently was a tighter crop on the hands and that is being picky to even say that. This is a fantastic first entry. Hope to see you with a ribbon in the near future.
Best wishes in your next entry.

My Son, the Poetby mannjuditComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
I want to start out by saying this would be an excellent entry for a shutter speed challenge and it would do well. As for being delicate it doesn't work at least not with that title.
I would say you need to also crop off the top so the two different backgrounds don't show and distract.
I'm not going to try to go into lighting and focus as they aren't easily apparent in this image although I do see grain indicating not enough lighting.
I'm gonna stress this again that would have been fantastic in a shutter speed challenge.

you are beautifulby brandnewComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Welcome to DPChallenge.
I'm going to start off by saying be careful with the focus of your camera and watch the settings. If you try to shoot something in macro and are a few feet away its going to be blurry. Also make sure you don't have any film on the lens that can do it too. And just like Tara explained learn to use the autofocus feature. A tripod will also aid in focusing.
Now something to remember try and finish up with an image close to 640 on the longest side. People around here really get testy over smaller images.
Don't give up go start clicking away and learn how to use that camera then come back and show everyone what you can really do.

Ghosts don't come out in the lightby wbb117Comment: Greetings from the critique club
You had a good idea but two things you need to be aware of first off your background is wrinkled causing a distraction.
Secondly, Casper is in your photo. You probably would have done better if you had a 3 dimensional casper as compared to a sketched casper. This is too flat this way.
Nice attempt at the challenge.

Touch Me Not!by doctabrezComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
For starters that pose just doesn't say delicate to me it says some other things but not delicate.
As others said your background is distracting go for a solid background or design the wallpaper there would have made a nice background but the door doesn't work with the wallpaper for a background.
You are a little off with the focus and it doesn't seem to be intentionally soft.
Your lighting here works.

little brotherby frumoazniculComment: I do like your concept here. I actually was thinking of trying something similar to this with my two boys but the baby is just to small and yes delicate to try something like this with.
Now first thing I would do to improve this is get rid of that bag at his feet it is distracting. Second would be the position of his head he looks like he is looking down the road rather than at his little brother. The little brother also looks stiff not natural at all.
I would also try cropping that some they just seem to centered. Your lighting and focus are both good and the use of b & w adds to the emotion. Overall its a very nice photo and it fits the challenge.
