This is an astoundingly good image. I keep looking at it and seeing nuances, movement, depth. Shadows that I know were moving are still, those that were still, move. I can't quite see it all, no matter how much I look, there's always more, and I can't stop looking (nor do I want to). Delightful.

I'm not in your group, and you already know what I think of this, but I have to say it anyway. It sings to me when I see it, a lovely melody, without a hint of discordance, without a hint of tonal flaws. It just sings, and I love its song.

Such soft light, but even better, such wonderful shadows, hidden here and there. Under the boat, in the clouds at the horizon. You really have to search, but they're there, with secrets, and memories, and just a tiny hint of anger. I hope it's not me they're angry with . . .. Delightful earth tones throughout here, wonderfully composed, wonderfully seen scene, and yes, a respectable score that still shows it wasn't fully appreciated. More people need to look for the shadows.

There are so many ghosts here. Ghosts don't do well on DPC; people don't like to see ghosts, it brings up too many of their own. But there are so many here. In the TV -- it's not plugged in, I looked for the power cable, but it's not there. So, either the picture is a ghost, or the tv is a ghost, showing images without electricity. And then there are the ghosts in the windows of the house. Ghosts of a place where everyone has been, but no one lives. I love your work, but just remember, not so many ghosts next time. Ghosts don't do well on DPC . . .

I didn't vote this challenge, either, but I probably would have given this a six. Keep in mind that five is pretty much as low as I go (I see things where there are no things, and I give photographers credit for them). Here, the six would have been because the swan doesn't look soft to me, but instead looks like plastic. I loved the thumb, and I love the deep darkness, calling to be seen but hiding from even the most probing, searching eyes; it's daunting, scary, powerful. But on top, there's a plastic swan. I could come up with something about the commercial nature of post-modern industrial economies, creating wealth of thin air, of our throw-away societies, but I wouldn't have done that here. I would have wanted a real swan to be chased by that shadow . . . (I still like it).

I like the ever so slightly off kilter feel here, though I'm not really a fan of the extreme vignette (what are you hiding in all that darkness?). Your description reminds me of this song:

"I like studying faces in a parking lot
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything"

I love the window in this; someone is watching out of that window, watching as you shoot the scene, thinking what to do, whether to just let you get on with it, or maybe to come out, ask what you're doing . . . I can even see (in my mind's eye) the hand reaching out to open the window . . . excellent, moody scene.
