What a cutie! Even as he seems aggrivated at having his picture taken, the overall effect of the portrait makes me smile. The focus is right where it should be, the face very clear and the background not distracting. The composition is very nice, and the colors work well together. IMO a very good portrait, and I think some voters voted lower for animal portraits, otherwise Im sure this would have scored much higher. Good work and keep shooting!!

The composition of the portrait is lovely. The idea that her expression and placement convey is very interesting for the viewer. The editing in the hair makes it almost appear like lines of tiny dots. It is an interesting effect, one that the voters at DPC will either love or hate. The focus seems to be on her hair, taking away from her face. There is a lot of noise and pixilation in her face and the background, while it can be acceptable in the background, on her face it looks like a lot of green and brown spots. It looks like a small picture blown up very big. Fits the challenge perfectly. Overall, a nice portrait that encountered some promlems in post-processing.
Nice work and keep shooting!

Nice portrait! The first thing I notice is the angle, it portrays such a feeling of fun, as does the expression on her face. Her eyes are beautiful, and maybe could have been accentuated more. With her blonde hair and fair skin, perhaps a darker color blouse or background might make this portrait a little more interesting and add a little more depth. The focus seems a bit off, her right eye seems sharper and brighter than the left. Very well composed, everything seems to work together to give the viewer a sense of fun. Overall, a great portrait of a pretty, happy girl! Good work and keep shooting!!

Your photo shows a very nice capture of a boy in his native environment :-). The colors are very vivid, but the blue of the ATV overpowers the subject, and keeps drawing your eye back to the ATV. The composition is nice, but maybe it could have been better zoomed in on the boy or cut into more of a vertical for more interest. The focus is very nice, perhaps just a little more sharpening on his face. The sky is beautiful without being distracting. Fits the challenge well. Nice work and keep shooting!!

Congratulations on a beautiful portrait! The way the fire lights her face is so flattering and intriging. The colors are beautiful, although the whites of her eyes seem a bit dark (from the smoke perhaps?). The focus on her face and the way the light highlights her hair is perfect. The fire is a bit too bright for this photo, maybe if you had cropped out a little more of it, or somehow darkened it. Overall, it gives the viewer a warm, gentle feeling. Fits the challenge perfectly.
Good Job and keep shooting!!

What an interesting and emotive portrait. The look on the man's face, combined with the background colors makes me think that he has many stories and thoughts about life. There is a bit of his ear on the right cut out, but nothing bad. The focus is perfect. This is one portrait that you could do so many things with, and I enjoy the way you have made it. It seems to tell a story in addition to just showing a face.
Good Work and keep shooting!!

Such a pretty Kitty! I love the eyes, they are so clear they are overpowering in a wonderful way. The focus is completely on her eyes and face. The background is not distracting at all. The composition is good, except for the left ear being slighly cut off. The lighting is perfect for accentuating her colors. Very nicely done!

Good job on a very nice portrait. It is very well composed, the placement of the boy and the angle of his head are very nice. The crop cut off the very top of his head, which is a bit odd. The lighting on the boy could perhaps be a bit softer, and there is a "hot spot" in the upper left corner. The background color does compliment the subject, but the white streaks are just a bit distracting. His face could have been a bit sharper, but is still nicely defined. Overall, the elements seem to accentuate his eyes, which are gorgeous, and seems very deep. Well done and good luck on future challenges!

I really do like this portrait. The Subject is nicely composed, the background is well suited, and the lighting on his face is very nice. The white shirt and hat really allow his face to be the primary focus. As the comments mentioned, there is a "hot spot" on his right shoulder. Sometimes this can be fixed using dodge and burn. One thing that might have made him stand out even more would be to sharpen him and make the background less sharp. Overall, a very nice portrait, extremely well done.
