Greetings from the Critique Club!!
Good job on a very nice portrait. It is very well composed, the placement of the boy and the angle of his head are very nice. The crop cut off the very top of his head, which is a bit odd. The lighting on the boy could perhaps be a bit softer, and there is a "hot spot" in the upper left corner. The background color does compliment the subject, but the white streaks are just a bit distracting. His face could have been a bit sharper, but is still nicely defined. Overall, the elements seem to accentuate his eyes, which are gorgeous, and seems very deep. Well done and good luck on future challenges!

This is nice, but I think it would have been better if the top of his head wasn't cut off. |

I'm pretty sure my little boy has this same shirt. The image is very good. But the background's texture is distracting. I don't have a problem with the red theme. Ithink the colors balance nicely, but the wall has distracting imperfections and the light reflecting in the top right takes away from the beauty of the boy's face. |

Cute expression! The background is a bit distracting from the subject to me. Love his eyes. |

I would have just gone with a different title so as to avoid cropping the head. |

I feel the background has ruined an otherwise excellent portrait. The color and texture are clashing with the young man's shirt. The flash is bouncing harshly off the wall to his right and casting a little more shadow than needs to be on his right. To avoid unwanted shadows, it's usually best to have your subject several feet away from the background. |

Nice shot, I have rated a little higher if the clarity was a little sharper. |

The highlight and the shadow behind the boy are a little distracting. |

The little boy you used for your model has such great expression and presence but his shirt really competes with your background and draws my focus from your subject. Lighting off just a bit for me too. |

Not crazy about the background or the thick black border, but cute (and serious) subject. |

The lighting here is highlighting the wall in back of this cute little boy. you also have a shadow behind him thats distracting. Try having him stand about 3 feetaway from the wall, and if possible hold the flash away from the camera to allow the flash to be on him not bounce the wall. If thats not possible, I know of two other inexpensive options that you can try. He's so cute and deserves to be the center of the photo :) |

Nice subject. Some more diffuse lighting (as opposed tol direct) may have helped to reduce the harsh shadows at the sides of the face. |

This shot has all sorts of potential. Seems like image quality is low, but the natural talent in the shot seems great. I really like the lighting effect on the subject's face, but not on the background. |

The boy is a bit blue in the eyes, whitening them would make it a lot better |

I really like this picture...his pose and expression. I like the background. Such a beautiful child. Just needs a little tuning up. His face has a yellow hue to it that could be taken out and it could stand some sharpening. Also, the picture is cropped just a little close. You cut off his head :-( |
