nice,sharp focus. The foreground si distracting...perhaps a tighter crop would have worked here. The lighting is not particularly interesting, and the face seems a bit overexposed.

while this does seem to be a closeup, the focus is soft and the lighting less than thrilling. Amazing what you find when you start poking around in the flower bed, eh?

there's lot's of competition with this type of image, so the standards are pretty high. it looks like this rose is a bit past it's prime, with browning edges on the petals. The shot is out of focus a bit (or was it deliberately soft?) and the lighting is not very dynamic. Keep at it...if you don't have a DSLR it is very hard to do closeups and macros.
