down the cliffby klsafblueComment: There's a lot of interest in this shot, and good job making this drab color pallate really have life to it. The picture does seem pretty flat, did you try shooting at more of an angle to the cliff to allow some of the depth to show? |

Abstract Rainby drj0037Comment: Nice abstract, especially the streaks you were able to capture from the rain. Could also be interesting tilted so the rain's coming down more at an angle. |

birdwatching.jpgby mlhop05Comment: I like the focus on this, and the fact you got the lighting to work. I also like where left edge falls.
To improve it, I'd probably shoot from a little farther right. Create more space between the watchers and the birds, and eliminate part of those somewhat ugly sticks the birds are sitting on. It would also allow us to see the faces/reactions of the people. You could maybe also do without a little of the space on top. Unless you're attached to this particular composition, I don't see how it adds anything to the photo.
Overall, a very good idea that with a few minor tweakings could be an excellent shot. |

The Proposalby bananashayComment: Thanks for your comments guys!
Regarding the lighting (or lack of it): this is actually a ton lighter than the original, we got out there a little too late, by the middle of the shoot (when this shot fell) the sun had pretty much set and we'd lost most of the good lighting (which was a gorgeous gold tint). Plus my camera's really bad with low light shots.
The decision here, as I shot it, was on the guy's end, not the girl's. Which is why I showed more of his face than hers. This is a pre-proposal shot, and the guy's thinking: Is this the right time to ask? Do I really want to spend the rest of my life with this person? Should I just take my hand out of my pocket and leave the ring? etc. etc.
Oh and the reason there's no obvious ring box is....well....we couldn't find one. College kids, apparently, don't keep them lying around. Message edited by author 2007-05-09 22:14:29. |

dekotaby jmooreComment: Wow, this is so elegant. I love the flow. Going in my favorites. Only thing is, I wish there was a true black in it, the dark parts tend more towards grey. But yeah, obviously that's not a huge detail for the amount of admiration I have for this shot. |

White - "1.e4"by art-ineptComment: I love the way the light shines through the glass pieces. Wish there was a little more light in the background, everything fades extremely quickly. Good angle for this shot. |

...turnout...by excaliburComment: Very well-composed, the lines of this are pleasing. I don't quite understand the title but I won't hold that against you, that's my problem. Colors are nice, and the lighting works. |

Pearls or...?by pmottaComment: Very creatively set up shot, I like this. Only problem is that nothing really seems to be in foces, except maybe her shoulder, which isn't a key element of the picture. Nice natural framing. |

Red or White?by AlexMontyComment: This looks a little tilted to me, might want to try rotating it a tiny bit clockwise. The picture has a beautifully soft feel to it, a combination of the light and textures. Well done, very artistic. Possibly try a slightly larger DOF to get more definition in the red wine glass. |
