Is this a model? It certainly doesn't look real, and the headline seems very contrived.

Boring, a poorly composed snapshot, no focal point, no sense of when or where this is without the headline. This would be boring in a slideshow for family, let alone a photo competition.

That's not really a headline, keep it topical, specific and active. Maybe "Streetsweeping Back on Track After Strike" or "No Benefits in Sight for Kuala Lumpur's Laborers"

This is a stretch, but I'll let it slide for creativity. I can at least think of an article that might follow, on raising this type of flower perhaps.

This could have met the challenge if you had put more thought into your headline. As it is, it's just a funny snapshot. Something like: "New Statues at Hyde Park Attract Young Visitors" Try to think what the article accompanying it might be, or what story you are trying to tell.

Not sure this would get in the paper for the said event, but it's creative and interesting. I would crop a bit off top and bottom, but that's just me.

Maybe in a 1950 newspaper, why so grainy and high contrast? This could do with a bit more focus, and might even have done better in color. Even when taking a scene like this, it's important to think about your focal point, which right now is the bench at the bottom center. The tree midcenter would have been a better choice, since it would pull the eye to the whole image rather than down to the bottom.

Hmm, not sure is we'd actually see this one in a newspaper, but I guess it meets all the requirements. I would like a teensy bit more focus, right now it looks almost like you tool the Blur tool to it.

Good. Maybe a more specific headline? Adding the town name might give it a bit more impact.
