The lighting from beneath / inside the tower of kitkat fingers really does make it look like a hot furnace, and I like the way that the white light picks out the corners and angles at the top of the tower. Not sure about the bar propped up at the lower side, wondering if the photo might be without it altogether?

I really like the contrasts of shape, shade and lighting and skin tones on this. It looks a 'warm' image. I like the way the chocolate has been used so creatively in the photo. I'm not a photo expert and neither am I qualified to make any technical criticisms, but for me this photograph works really well and I gave it a 9

Chocolate Kisses - Want One?

It never occured to me that it would be possible to take a portrait shot such as this, with a model, and still be able to maintain 'chocolate' as being the subject of focus. I think you've achieved this very well, though the models eyes almost win over. I like the colour and the lighting. The model's hair colour seems perfect for this photo. I'm neither a photography nor a 'technical' expert, who can make qualified criticisms, but I think the whole photo is really beautiful and I gave it a 9.

This photo, to me, portrays a very 'christmassy' feel to it - with the hollies and berries on the plate. It looks nice against the colourful chocolate beans. I would love to see the entire plate filled with only the beans, leaving the red dots and pattern on the plate surrounding them, all against a plain, contrasting coloured, unruffled background. But I'm no expert - just a thought.

I like the creative idea of a real orange dipped in chocolate. This photo definitely portrays an 'orange peel' effect. However, I feel it would help, with this particular photo, to see more colour contrast - or even greater contrasts in the lights and darks.

The dark background is lovely and I like the way the lighting picks out the stream of melted chocolate, then gently strokes the curves of the bar underneath, ending in shadow at the front, which blends into the background. I like the angle, making the light pick out the whole one side of the bar - making for both an interesting and artistic contrast and perspective to the whole image. I'm no photography expert, neither am I qualified to be able to make 'technical' criticisms, but I think the photo works really well. I'm undecided about the frame. Anyway - gets my 10.

FAO: Goodman (in case you check back to find out where to get a Stypen). These were bought at Malaga airport some time ago. Sorry, but I don't know where you would buy them normally - maybe you know some good pen shops?

Was 'tickled pink' (that means I'm pleased) to get within the top 50. The pens were laid on writing paper with a 'grainy' surface, which may help to explain some of the graininess of the photo? I expect my levels of 'unsharp' caused the grainy look on the pens - though I quite liked the effect myself.
Wanted, originally, to post in colour but there was a small red reflection on the fountain pen, which I knew would cost me some points. Desaturation to B&W, I thought, worked well for the challenge. I still have a lot to learn about photography though and being active on this site helps me to look at my photos more objectively. Special thanks for all the comments and suggestions that people take the time and effort to make. Thank you.

The most extraordinary feat, for me, in taking the photo was managing to have one of the bubbles NOT 'pop' when I stuck the scissor end into it. Used up half a bottle of washing up liquid in my effort!
It was fun to do.
Some very nice comments and interesting thoughts expressed. Thank you. My 4th submission and an improvement in my scores. Not worried about scores overall, but very much enjoying the challenges and the inspiration gained by viewing the creativity of other submissions to the site.
