The shallow depth of focus on this image really makes it 'pop' Is it all down to a wide open lens, or having you been using your PS skills?

I like the way my attention is caught by the sharp focus which is quite agressive yet the colours you have chosen for this image are quite soft and almost warm. It gives the photograph a very different feel to the other one of barbed wire in your portfolio. The blue of that photograph gives a much colder feel. Perhaps the warmth of this image is enhanced by the head of grass which implies more of an autumnal setting and the golden colours of that season.

I thought this was a fantastic image. I've no idea why it got any votes less than 5 as it meets the title of the challenge so well.

I guess there must be people out there who have a mouth full of sour grapes and can't stand it when somebody does something they wish they had. The shame is that they have membership of DPC. Maybe if your name was Bill Brandt or Cartier Bresson it would be praised as an example of raw street photography. It seems you have to have a 'name' to be able to break the compositional rules. That's progress eh!

I think this would have been better without the sky at the top, it would have drawn the eye more along the rails. The sky tends to be distracting. But at least your photo has some imagination. Well done!
