snake2.jpgby CraigFComment: A Ball Python! We used to have one here, his name was Baby, he was the sweetest thing. Won my daughter a first prize in a Science Fair! ;) Very nice colors, snakes can be very had to shoot in that they don't like to pose and sit still all the time. If this is your snake may I recommend getting a large table, some rocks or other props and let him choose the poses. :) |

snake1.jpgby CraigFComment: This is a very cool shot. I love the way these snakes rest on the branches. To bad you couldn't have gotten the other side and his head but overall very nice colors.

Waterwallby CraigFComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I love bridge shots. I love bridges, if you look in my portfolio you will see that, LOL :)
The water in this picture is perfect, the flow, the lines, all very crisp and clean. But as said in an earlier comment, that is about all that is really interesting about the shot. What can be done to make it better? Well, different crop might help, just taking my screen up a bit and removing the top part of the bridge makes a tremendous difference in this shot. It puts more focus on the water and less on the bridge, which in this shot is competing with the water for my attention.
Also the post processing can made a big difference in the shot as well. The lighting is very hard on this and while I see you did an auto levels and curves, don't be afraid to go in and explore the other actions available. This might work very well in b&W or duotone, taking a minus form the color shot and adding it in a plus in another version. If you do try that I would love to see the results.
I hope my comments help and I love your butterfly shots as well. They are very pretty!
Good luck in future challenges.

To the Lighthouse Past (tribute to dan_pendleton)by theSajComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
What a lovely image, such a peaceful feeling, I love sea shots and lighthouses so this is a nice shot overall for me to start with.
But evidently not the general public from the looks of the score and placing.
If I were to compare this to the original by dan_pendleton there are several differences to start but let's just talk about this one by itself.
The overall composition is alright but all the negative space doesn't really work for me on this shot. Maybe zooming in closer to the lighthouse to make it a bigger part of the shot so it really grabs my attention or at least holds it. The duotone is nice but very light, not a lot of darker to lighter, it's rather dull and not a lot of variation to the tones.
The noise also does not lend to this shot to me, a crisper shot would probably do better and I really would love to see this shot with the color.
I also would like to thank you again for the advice you gave me on my flyer. I have it printed out and am still working on all of it.
Hope my comments help, again, love the idea, the sea and the lighthouse.
Good luck in future challenges!

Still Lifeby BradComment: This is an amazing shot and you are right in that it's one time and one time only deal. To get a cat to sit still for 2 seconds while they are awake and you have a camera pointed at them, amazing. This should have scored much higher.
