Blue Riverby GunnsiComment: The sub-framing is an interesting technique. The juxtaposition of the sub-frames is pleasing to the eye, but I don't see anything within the sub-frames that "justifies" them.
I think it's a great idea, but this is not the right shot for it. |

Friday Afternoon Rush Hourby ShaneBlakeComment: This is a really striking photo. I'm not sure the title works - to me, "rush hour" suggests lots of cars moving very slowly; but these ones seem to be hurtling along.
Technically, there are some areas where it could improve. It would've been good to have seen more of the road and the cars - maybe had the camera angled down a little more. And maybe had one of the cars looking quite crisp, with some obvious speed blur in the others.
But sriking, nonetheless. |

Flowing into the nightby tomzComment: This one doesn't work for me, I'm afraid. The milky texture of the water doesn't sit well with the bleakness of the rocks.
There's an easy "wow" factor to be had from a slow exposure of running water, but something more is needed to make a really great photo. |

Mediocre Breakby freakin_hilariousComment: This works well. The colours are strong, but plausible (just). The blur doesn't detract from or overwhelm the balls themselves, but just imparts a sense of violent movement from the break. Nicely done. |

Keeping Paceby elee3009Comment: It's a shame the runner's almost entirely out of shot. I think it would have worked better if we'd seen a little more of him/her. |

His Final Fareby muur88Comment: Very evocative of dusk and urban decay. I am finding the yellow lines distracting as I look at it, though. I think there's a very strong sense of the cab "descending" into something, without the added emphasis that the yellow lines provide. |

Over the Topby Nikolai1024Comment: The blur of the calf adds to the background and wheel blurs to add to the sense of motion here - evocative. And the slight uphill angle to the road plays nicely to the title of the shot. |

Death Of A Cucumber, Birth Of A Saladby JSAYBComment: There's a great sense of the speed of the knife in this photo. It could've been cropped a little more tightly, I think; I'm not sure that the bowl on the right really adds anything.
I've got one of those chopping boards - they're almost impossible to clean properly once they've got a few knife marks in them, eh? |

Time for Sparklersby philupComment: It must've been tricky getting the subject holding so still, apart from his arms.
The effect works quite well, although the photo overall is a little flat. |

Physics...by ApeeComment: I think this is a great idea, but this shot doesn't quite carry it off. The string just looks blurred, rather than in motion.
Maybe what is needed is a slow exposure under a strobe light, to capture the vibrating string more clearly (though still a little blurred, I'm thinking) at a number of different points in its oscillation. |
