Red Trilliumby kashiComment: Lovely photo...FYI (in case you didn't know) this flower is called a Trillium. And in many areas it is illegal to pick these flowers.
[Wikipedia]
Picking the flowers of Trillium can seriously injure the plant. The three leaves below the flower are the plant's only food source and a picked trillium may die or take many years to recover. For this reason in many areas, e.g. British Columbia, Michigan, New York, Oregon, and Washington, it is illegal to pick trilliums. While a popular belief is held that it is illegal to pick the common Trillium grandiflorum (white trillium) in Ontario, no such law actually exists. However, the Trillium flexipes (drooping trillium) is protected by law in Ontario, where it maintains its very small Canadian population.
They are a favorite 'find' of mine, of which I discovered a patch growing on my property this weekend and was educating the kids on them. I was excited to see your lovely photo.

Extra: Playfulby SiggavComment: I will miss seeing Nikita daily....you have taken some very fabulous photos of her. She has such a fun personality (of which I dare to say may get her in trouble some days). My favorite pet was Amadeus...he reminds me of Nikita's personality. He almost didn't last at my house, he was soooo rambunctious but I said, once you bring a pet into the house it is family and you can't trade family in for a different model. Amadeus turned out to be the absolute BEST pet I have ever had. He loved to chase bottle caps. If he brought it back to you to throw again and you weren't paying attention he would bite your leg!!
My current family of cats, eat and sleep....thus it was very hard to get unique photos.
Thank you for your pics of Nikita!!
Only downfall....if you use her as a model in a challenge, I will recognize her immediately!!! :-) |

simon2by raishComment: Great detail on the kitty...
I appreciate the difficulty in getting the detail on an all white cat. I struggle with getting good detail on my all black cat.
If you are going away...who's watching Simon???
After seeing these pets for 30days I feel attached.. :-) |

Day 25: Holy Jumping Bengal Batman!by SiggavComment: I think Nikita is going to keep you on your toes...I used to have a cat once that would jump at least 5ft to grap a ribbon dangling from a helium balloon. it was her favorite toy. I would always have a balloon floating around my house for Sera to jump....
Do me a favor, get one for Nikita....(make sure it is the Mylar type not a latex) |
